Time for the summer road trip. We headed out Sun for points north. First stop, Longview for lunch with Betty. Then onward to a busy I-5 trip north - lots of traffic despite the gas prices. We planned a trip with fewer miles than usual...we think.
Stayed in Mount Vernon, WA Sunday night, a town next to Anacortes where the ferry is. We'll head to Lopez Island this morning, but we have to watch ONE last stage of the Tour de France before we drive to Anacortes!
We have two books, plus AAA guides and local travel brochures and we still don't have a great picture of what to expect. Even the ferry schedule system is kind of confusing. well, it will all become clear soon! The plan is to stay on Lopez Island, explore that then take the ferry w/ our bikes to the other islands. We have 4 nights in a cabin on Lopez Island, then we'll go to Victoria for 3 nights, then the plan at this point is to go to Olympic National Park to Lake Ozette, but we'll see what happens.
